A DNA sample is professionally collected (for legal purposes) using buccal swabs (mouth swabs) and sent to our laboratory for testing. The typical turnaround time for testing is 3 to 5 business days.
When testing is complete, you will receive a full laboratory report certifying the results of your DNA kinship test.
Types of Family Relationship, Kinship Tests
Grandparentage Test - full
A grandparentage test is performed to determine a child’s relationship to the alleged father’s family when the alleged father is unavailable or unwilling and no post-mortem sample is available. By comparing the DNA patterns of both paternal grandparents with the child, we can determine a “probability of grandparentage.”
Grandparentage Test - Single
A single grandparentage test is performed to determine a child’s relationship to the alleged father’s family when the alleged father is unavailable or unwilling and no post-mortem sample is available.By comparing the DNA patterns of one of the paternal grandparents with the child's DNA, we can determine a “probability of grandparentage.”Siblingship Test - Full and Half Siblings
There are two types of relationships that siblings can share: Full siblingship and Half siblingship. Full Siblings will share two common parents and Half Siblings will share just one common parent. A siblingship test provides the likelihood of genetic relationship between two possible siblings, specifically when no other relatives are available for study. Please note that a grandparentage or reconstruction test is more definitive than a siblingship test, especially if the mother is not involved.Full Siblingship with a Common Parent Participating
A full siblingship test can be performed if the two individuals (Sibling 1, Sibling 2) know they share the same mother, but want to know if they share the same father (who is unavailable for testing).Full Siblingship without a Common Parent Participating
We can perform a full siblingship test even if the mother is not available for testing. The mother’s participation is always encouraged for more conclusive results.Half Siblingship with Two Parents (not in common) Participating
A half siblingship test is performed if the two individuals (Sibling 1, Sibling 2) know they have different mothers but want to know if they share the same father (who is unavailable for testing).Half Siblingship without Parents Participating
We can perform a half siblingship test even if one or both mothers are not available for testing. However, a mother’s participation is always encouraged for more conclusive results.Genetic Reconstruction Test
Genetic reconstruction is used to test the relationship between a child and biological relatives of the alleged father, if he is deceased or unavailable for testing.Y-STR Test

Avuncular Test
An avuncular test is performed to determine if two individuals are related to each other as aunt–nephew (or niece) or as uncle–nephew (or niece).
